Vocation Promotion

9.3.jpg

A Christian Vocation is a call from God to each baptized person to live a life as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.  Vocational choice starts when we are very young.

Parents, teachers, and other interested adults ask the child, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"  A child thinks about and pretends to be many things.

As the young person gets older he or she begins to focus more seriously on the possibilities, experiences, education, and personal preferences bring.  Discovering one's call is a very natural but deliberate process. Choosing a vocation in life is
really about listening to God's voice and making a number of choices.

Get to Know Us

Each one of us is called-whether to the lay life in marriage, to the priestly life in the ordained ministry, or to a life of special consecration-in order to become a witness of the Lord here and now…We need not be perfect in order to respond with our generous, “yes”, nor be fearful of our limitations and sins, but instead open our hearts to the voice of the Lord. To listen to that voice, to discern our personal mission in the Church and the world, and at last to live it in the day today’s life that God gives us.”

Vocation Promotion is the responsibility of every Catholic.

A culture of vocation promotion invites each Daughter of St. Mary of Providence to take personal responsibility for attracting women through praying each day for vocations, welcoming women into our communities and giving witness to lives that inspire and attract the young.
