Our Devotions

The Heart of Our Spiritual Life

The spirituality of St. Luigi Guanella unites deep prayer with active charity, inspired by saints of compassion and contemplation. Rooted in trust in God’s loving Providence and centered on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, he taught us to see Christ in “the least ones” and to serve them with love and dignity.

As Daughters of St. Mary of Providence, we draw strength from the Eucharist, contemplate Christ Crucified, and honour Mary, Mother of Divine Providence. We venerate St. Joseph, the saints of charity, and our holy Founder, whose example inspires us to live every day in the spirit of prayer and joyful service. Through these devotions, we remain attentive to God’s presence in every person and event.

The Spirit of prayer anticipates and accompanies our every activity, so that we may recognize and accept the mysterious visit of God in persons and events. ( Const. 18.8 )

The Word of God, Source of our Spiritual Life
With diligence and ardent desire, we approach Sacred Scripture, a pure and eternal Source of Spiritual life…. Through attentive and docile listening, daily personal meditation and exchanges in community, the Word of God develops in us a vision of faith based on reality. (Const. 19)

Eucharist, our source of life
The heart of our consecrated life, as individuals and as a community, is the Eucharist. (Const. 20). The tabernacle is “our paradise on Earth”. In the silence of contemplation, we taste the wonder and beauty of Christ’s presence and let ourselves be formed in the image of His Eucharistic Heart. (Const.21)

Devotion to the Christ Crucified
With living faith we contemplate Jesus Crucified and penetrate the depths of the feelings of His pierced Heart, so that our lives may be modelled ever more closely on His life. Daily meditation on the mystery of the passion and death of the Lord, illuminated by the resurrection, reveals to our hearts the path of mercy that limits evil, creates solidarity with suffering humanity and opens us to the hope. (Const. 22.16)

Devotion to Our dear Mother of Divine Providence
We praise Mary and with the love of the Daughters, look to her, the star of the humanity. We invite everyone to venerate her and to invoke the Father’s Providence through her intercession. (Const.24)

Devotion to the Saints
We honour St.Joseph, the custodian of the Holy Family and Patron of the dying, and we commemorate in particular the Saints of Charity.

We celebrate our Holy Founder with devotion and gratitude, and we venerate Sister Clare with deep joy. We remember Mother Marceline and the members of the Guanellian Family who have gone before us to the Father’s House, leaving us shining examples of holiness.       (Const. 26)
