Blessed Clare Special School for the Mentally Challenged

Since its humble beginning in 2010, the Blessed Clare Special School for the Mentally Challenged has been a beacon of hope for children with intellectual disabilities. Established within the peaceful residential premises of the Sisters, the school initially functioned in a small adjoining hall. As the number of children steadily increased, a new and more spacious building was constructed with the generous support of benefactors and well-wishers.

Today, the school is home to 55 to 60 special children, extending its service to over 500 families in and around Bangalore. The school provides free transportation, with a dedicated school bus covering a radius of up to 60 kilometers daily, reaching children from the following areas:

  • Geddalahalli

  • Hennur Bande

  • Hennur Cross

  • Lingarajapuram

  • Nagavara

  • Mariyan Palaya

  • Chelikere

  • Agra

  • Horamavu

  • Jayanthi Nagar

  • Kalkere

  • Dottagubbi

  • Kothanur

  • Byrathi Cross

With a holistic and inclusive approach to education, the Sisters offer not only academic learning but also life skills, personalized care, and vocational training, enabling each child to discover their unique potential and live with dignity.

Residence for Mentally Challenged Girls

Recognizing the need for a safe and nurturing environment, the Sisters opened a residential home for special-needs girls on 13th June 2023. This home began with four girls—Monica, Vaasagi, Selina, and Maria—who come from backgrounds of single parenting or orphanhood.

The residence is more than just a shelter; it is a sanctuary of love, compassion, and growth. Here, the girls are guided gently towards independence by learning essential self-help skills such as bathing, toileting, grooming, and maintaining personal hygiene. They also receive training in domestic tasks like folding clothes, tidying their rooms, and simple kitchen activities including stitching and vegetable cutting.

In this caring environment, the Sisters empower the children to build confidence, self-respect, and autonomy. Every child is cherished and encouraged to grow emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The home truly reflects the charism of the Congregation—serving the poorest and most vulnerable with motherly love and divine compassion.
